In 2007, Lamborghini debuted the Gallardo Superleggera, paying tribute to the super light 350 GT, the first ever production Lamborghini. Approximately 170 have been produced.

The Superleggera, as its name suggests, is 100 kg lighter than the standard Gallardo. Its screaming five litre V10 (523 bhp, a power gain of 10 bhp over the base model) coupled to a six-speed E-gear transmission (no cost option manual six-speed) will propel the all-wheel drive vehicle to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and then to a top speed of 315 km/h. The use of carbon fibre parts throughout, including a polycarbonate engine cover has aided the car to reach an incredible power to weight ratio of 2.5 kg/hp.

Who can forget the mild rear wing (with integrated reverse camera) and rear diffuser made of carbon fibre, the "Superleggera" black stripe along the doors, fading away into the side air intakes? The signature raging bull stance with that twin exhaust that howls down the freeway - ever so distinctive.

Four point seat belts and monocoque carbon fibre seats covered in Alcantara are heavily shaped to restraint both the passenger and driver pulling into those tight curves. The interior is vastly covered in a combination of Alcantara and carbon fibre, giving the driver a sense of luxury within a high performance sports car. The thick, heavily bolstered three spoked steering wheel with the race inspired flat bottom is the first thing that you'd want to wrap your hands around as you enter the car. Standard black gauge clusters have been replaced with white-faced dials to enhance the sportiness of the cockpit. As a weight saving measure, the optional multimedia system has been deleted. From tremendous carbon fibre segments down to the titanium wheel nuts, it is all about weight saving for the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera.

It is one of the most exciting super cars to ever be manufactured in Lamborghini's hometown in Sant'Agata Bolognese, Italy.
